About Us
We are Richard & Jessica Bailey, the owners of Earthly Elements. Richard graduated from the University of Texas at El Paso with a degree in Geology. Jessica is a Physical Therapist. Richard began his passion for rocks & minerals at the early age of seven when his parents took him to Santa Fe and Taos New Mexico during the summers in the mid-sixties. The mountains around Taos had numerous gold and silver mines in the late 1800's and early 1900's. Richard began collecting Malachite and Azurite ore from the mine tailings and a geologist was born.
By the age of twelve Richard had a small wholesale rock business selling to local craft stores in the Dallas, Texas Area. At that time he began learning lapidary arts from a family friend. After college, Richard worked in Oil & Gas Exploration for a number of years and then went to work in information technology for Ross Perot's company EDS. After another stint in information systems for a Natural Gas Utility, Richard moved to Annapolis, Maryland where he became a licensed U.S. Coast Guard Master (Boat Captain) for five years.Earthly Elements began in September of 2006 as a family business selling rocks, minerals, crystals, Gemstone & Silver Jewelry, Beads and Metaphysical Stones at Art & Craft Shows. In January of 2007 we decided to open a brick & mortar store. We carry a large variety of mineral specimens, crystals, gemstone jewelry, beads, metaphysical stones and home decor items. We also carry polished and rough rock as well as the Lortone line of lapidary equipment. We have over 50 different types of tumbled stones. You will also find spheres, eggs and rock candle holders.
